An alert allows you to be notified when the value of a PID matches a specified condition. This article provides instructions for configuring and using alerts.
Alerts are configured on the Setting > Preferences > Alerts page.
An alert becomes active when the value matches the threshold setting for the alert and becomes inactive when the value no longer matches the threshold setting. When an alert becomes active or inactive, an alert action is triggered.
Global actions apply to all alerts, unless an alert is not configured to use global actions.
Display Notification displays a notification with the alert message. This action requires the notification permission.
Display Dialog displays a dialog with the alert message.
When an alert action is set to display a dialog, no other alert actions will be taken until the dialog is dismissed. Therefore, alert dialogs will be automatically closed after 10 seconds if not dismissed.
Vibrate causes the device to vibrate.
Speak announces the alert message.
You can configure speech settings on the Settings > Preferences > Speech page.
If your device is set to silent mode, the alert message might not be played.
Play Sound plays a short tone.
If your device is paired with your vehicle's Bluetooth, you might not hear the sound unless the vehicle audio source is set to Bluetooth.
Add Trip Event records an event for the current trip that tracks when and where the alert became active. You can view trip events on the Trips page map.
A trip event will only be recorded if you have Record Trip Events enabled on the Settings > Preferences > General page.

Close Dialog closes the dialog that was displayed when the alert become active.
Vibrate causes the device to vibrate.

Play Sound plays a short tone.

A trip event will only be recorded if you have Record Trip Events enabled on the Settings > Preferences > General page.
To add an alert, tap Configure Alerts on the Alert settings page. Press the Add button on the top-right of the page to add an alert. Configure the settings for the alert as explained below.
Enabled enables or disables an alert. An alert will not be monitored unless it is enabled.
PID configures the parameter that you want to monitor.
Threshold configures the condition that will trigger the alert to become active. You must select the comparison operator (e.g. >) and set the comparison value.
Active Actions configures the action(s) to take when the alert becomes active. To use the global actions, enable Use Global Actions. To configure actions that are specific to this alert, disable Use Global Actions.
Inactive Actions configures the action(s) to take when the alert becomes inactive. To use the global actions, enable Use Global Actions. To configure actions that are specific to this alert, disable Use Global Actions.
Each alert that you add requires the system to continuously monitor the PID that is selected for the alert, which can reduce the refresh rate of other PIDs being monitored.
Add alerts for conditions that you consider to be exceptional and not normal vehicle operation. For example, you might want to be alerted if the engine coolant temperature exceeds a value that it does not reach under normal operating conditions.
If you select multiple actions that produce a sound (e.g. Speak and Play Sound), one could interrupt the other. Consider selecting at most one action that produces a sound.
